NRA Basic Pistol Course

Instructor Maritato is a Certified NRA Pistol Instructor and offers NRA Basic Pistol Courses to students and the general public. The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, two handed and one handed standing positions and continued opportunities for skill development.

Reality-Based Martial Arts

In a real-life confrontation you do not have the opportunity to tap out, there are no referees, no rules, and certainly no second chances. Avoiding a confrontation is the safest option and should always be your first choice. Cash and credit cards can always be replaced but the reality is that our world is becoming more brutal every day. Some comply with the demands of an attacker and live, others comply and die. Personally, I want the odds stacked in your favor. Our program is designed to do just that...to give the victim a fighting chance to survive.

Ask yourself this question, "If attacked, am I prepared to protect my family?"

Reality-based martial arts focus on preparing students for real-world confrontations by practicing under similar conditions, which includes stress and complete chaos. This is done by using real-life scenarios and incorporating practical self-defense applications that are effective and can be used by anyone, especially under high-stress conditions. From day one you will immediately start learning simple, effective techniques that you can use to protect yourself and your family.

The EFC program is based on levels. Once a student reaches a certain level of proficiency they will be tested and advanced to the next level. Each level will be more mentally and physically challenging than the last. You will find that the techniques will remain easy to learn and execute but the reality-based scenarios will increasingly intensify and the pressure tests will push you to more extreme limits. This is what reality-based self-defense training is all about...being ready, willing and able to fight and survive, while under severe stress.

There are realities that need to be considered when training for real-life confrontations. Being physically fit and well-trained are key components to performance.

During moments of stress, performance is affected. Research has shown that performance will increase during moments of high stress when simple and practical techniques that require large muscle and gross motor skills are used and practiced on a regular basis, as opposed to complex and intricate techniques that require fine motor coordination (*Figure 1).

This is what makes EFC's program so effective.

By practicing under high-stress scenarios similar to those encountered on the streets and modifying techniques to incorporate wide ranges in muscle movement and large muscle groups, efficiency and performance is increased.
